Dr. Rachel Donnelly Speaker Event Overview

On November 4th of 2024, ARMS and MIHE co-hosted their Seminar Series with invited speaker guest, Dr. Rachel Donnelly.

The event was a huge success, with a large turnout, comprising of McMaster graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, and community members, completely filling L.R. Wilson’s Community Room to maximum capacity. The session featured engaging conversations and inquiries as Dr. Donnelly discussed how the United States’ state policy contexts lead to various mental health outcomes and moderate the impacts of stress. Drawing from the nationally representative 2020-2023 Household Pulse Survey results, Dr. Donnelly explained how state policy liberalism is associated with probable depression and anxiety, as well as weakens the associations between stressors and mental health in the United States.
